If you wish to use metrics to make decisions with financial implications (e.g. hiring and promotion, assigning funding etc.) we strongly recommend that you consult Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Services, in order to check if your planned use of metrics is responsible, appropriate and in line with University guidelines.

The University Library can provide general advice on:
- an overview of citation metrics and altmetrics (what they are and how they work)
- how to use metrics tools to identify highly cited or highly discussed journals, authors and journal papers for your studies or research
- methods to track citations and attention received by your own research outputs
- the strengths, drawbacks and limitations of metrics
