Allan studied social work at the University of Birmingham, qualifying in 1990. He studied to become a solicitor at the University of Central England, being admitted to the roll of solicitors in 2000. He undertook a Masters at the University of Birmingham, in Social Â鶹ÊÓƵ and Reflective Professional Practice, graduating in 2014.
Allan is a practitioner who remains in independent social work practice and is registered with Social Work England. He also lectures at the Universities of Birmingham and Chester.
